A Hard Day

ree

I read this story a while ago and forgot to share it with you.

My Grandmother always cooked tasty food. But one day, she put a burnt pie in front of my Grandpa. Not just a little burnt, but black as coal. I waited to see what my Grandpa would say.

But he just ate the pie and asked how my day was. Then I heard my Grandmother apologise to him for his dinner.

I'll never forget his response.

"Dear, I like your pie."

Later, I asked him if he had told the truth.

He put his arm on my shoulder and said, “Your Grandma had a tough day at work."

"She was tired."

"The burnt pie didn't harm me but, a sharp word could've hurt her."

We all make mistakes.

We shouldn't focus on mistakes but, support those we love.

Have you seen the price of Oat Milk? £1.80 per litre! Makes one wonder how they make oat milk and why is it so expensive. Well, they have a simple process, spread some oats on a board and cover them in water, once absorbed, roll the oats out and the liquid is oat milk. Damn, that is clever and so worth the cost. I have oat milk or coconut milk in my coffee and will be changing to cow's milk from now on, it is cheaper, and more effort has gone into the making of it and to hell with them and their overpriced products.

Talking about the price of something, fuel comes to mind. I forecast we will be paying at least the price of Oat milk, £1.80 per litre, by the end of June, if not sooner. We do live in an interesting time but Brexit and Covid have not helped. Put a dishonest, idiot of a prime minister in the mix and we have what we have. Putin and Johnson are problems we need to sort out.

Browsing the BBC news, I find it hard to locate what is the truth. Slippery comes to mind, it is easier to hold the soap in a bathtub than find the truth. I have always relied on the BBC to give me facts and then if they want to elaborate on the facts and put their name on the article, that is fine, that is their view on the subject. Increasingly I read something and it is pure rubbish. Today's flippant remark is often tomorrow's headline.

To give you an example, the headline today ‘Firms have oversold flights and holidays.’ Rubbish, I heard the interview and the airline representative clearly explained that a shortage of staff caused by the Government and its Brexit policy was to blame. Pre-Brexit all the hard work was done by people coming from the EU and now they are not allowed to work here and the local workforce is not interested. The government promised the air travel industry they would allow 10,000 EU visas to fill the vacant positions, alas nothing has been forthcoming.

All those with a perspicacious mind will see the truth eventually. The truth isn't easily pinned to a page and is much more difficult to find.

Came across a really dark, scary nursery rhyme called Three Blind Mice?

Three blind mice, three blind mice,

See how they run, see how they run,

They all ran after the farmer's wife,

Who cut off their tails with a carving knife,

Really? Who wrote this rhyme, Stephen King?

Doing my daily shopping in Tesco and I caught the eye of a woman with three children and a football dress man, you know the kind, all Adidas and a football t-shirt. She looked away quickly but in that brief second, I saw the wariness in her eyes. Her clothes were not fresh off the shelf and nor were the children’s, I do believe her life has been hard and probably still is. Sobering moment and it did make me start really looking at people, it can be quite illuminating and sad.
