New Beginnings

My youngest son has a friend of the opposite sex, well technically that is a girlfriend. From all accounts she is no slouch and knows how to hop, skip and jump, now that will keep him on his toes. In all fairness, he has always been quite keen on going to the Gym, he also knows a little about how to stay fit and trim. He has been known to cycle quite some distance and reasonable quickly from all accounts, do not quote me but I think he has one of those electric bicycles, looks way too fresh after claiming to have ridden 100kms.

Talking of exercise, this cricket business, well the scoring part of it has opened my eyes to how badly some people catch a ball. My son, who is captain of the village cricket team knows full well the advantages of holding on to all catches and how they can win games. I have attended the last two games and have witnessed as many dropped catches. Cricket is a funny old sport, you could be standing at silly mid-on and nothing happens for a while, then all of a sudden, someone hits a ball at you and does not expect you to catch it, you do and that could change the whole course of the game, this is the spirit of cricket.

By taking the catch you have now taken something from him, his ability to carry on hitting balls in your direction, My advice is to start with your wife or youngest child and a softball, ask them to throw the ball in your general direction, softly at first and see how many time you are able to catch it, this is practise catching. In my next blog, I will give advice on how to bat.

Now I must say that the years have gone by at an alarming rate, just the other day we moved into our present home and I have just seen that was some 10 years ago. It must have been fun. I know I have put on some weight because my buckle’s tongue has found comfort in the hole closer to the tip of my belt. A quick glance in the mirror when I am brushing my teeth, without my glasses on, does wash over the hidden imperfections and offers a softer note to start my day.

Why am I telling you this, well the dreaded house hunting has started. I really was hoping once we bought this house, that mind-numbing experience was a thing of the past. This time it is my son and his lovely Italian wife who are looking for a place that will accommodate their extended family. Yep, that includes Bruno the great and the lovely Pricilla, Queen of all she beholds. I do wonder if it is advisable to have three Italian under the same roof, this could end in tears.

Our good friend has just lost her brother, which is sad for her. She is such a lovely person and now life has thrown her a stumbling block, taking the joy of life away from her for a while. We are here for you.
