Sanguine

Meaning of Sanguine?

Optimistic or positive, especially in an apparently bad or difficult situation.

"he is sanguine about prospects for the global economy"

Lady Vivienne came out with this word in casual conversation and I was intrigued as to the meaning of sanguine. She did explain and followed it up with the Google definition. Interesting, I always thought it was a type of alcoholic beverage, clearly I am wrong and I bow to her expert knowledge.

Moving on, did you see Meghan is back in the UK, since the Queen died she has been looking demure and expectant. Little does she know that the Queen does not have a will and she will not be getting anything, does she really thinks she will be mentioned?

She did an interview with some trashy station in America and did say she was humiliated by the royal family. Money is the root of all evils but let’s examine her statement a little deeper.

Exactly what has the Royal family done to “unfairly humiliate" Meghan?

Was it when the Queen allowed her a £40 million church wedding when she didn't even allow her own son, the heir to the throne and future Head of the Church, to marry in the church?

No. That can't be it.

Was it when she was gifted the title of Duchess and all the perks that go with it?

No. That can't be it.

Was it when the Queen gave her the prestigious positions of Vice President of the Commonwealth Trust and Patron of the National Theatre?

No. That can't be it.

I do not see it but then the Queen did make a mistake, Meghan should have been made the patron for The Travelling Community, those that so love Sandbanks car park.

I have fallen into melancholy, not like me, I am usually full of energy, up for everything. I have travelled the world, sailed the seven seas, well a few at least. The English canal and the Indian Ocean, as well as the Mediterranean Sea. Maybe it is time for me to lift my horizons, take a leap of faith and travel to far-flung places, Nottingham comes to mind. I know it is far away but I do believe someone from a Japanese car manufacturer said, ‘It's not the destination but the journey, that is important.' With luck, we will go in the T-Roc, an awesome motor vehicle and still new.

Gary has bought himself a BBQ? Not sure how well that went down as it is Claudia’s birthday soon, she sent me a reminder, you would expect all available funds would be channelled into her birthday fund. Fear, not dear Claudia, your mother and father are coming over and will sort it out. In the interim, Gary has taken to sleeping on the couch. Happy birthday Claudia for the 24th, we helped buy her a tiny dog for her birthday. Talking of dogs, Molly is the name of that tiny dog and Gary is hoping to go hiking with the said canine, such exciting times ahead, he has bought a backpack that is dog friendly, yes, you got it, he will walk with the wee beast in his backpack.

Tonight Susan is having dinner with her Chinese colleague, not sure where they are going but hopefully, it will be an enjoyable meal and as Susan is not paying for it, a long and fruitful meal of exceptional cuisine. I am having fish, it is Thursday, so it is fish. Why fish on Thursday, long story and we will get to that later but suffice to say it is one of those times when you do not offend anyone.

The Pink Lady, an apple, but not just an apple, this is one of the healthiest foods you will eat. They’re rich in fibre and antioxidants. Eating them is linked to a lower risk of many chronic conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Apples may also promote weight loss and improve gut and brain health. Always eat them with their skin on, research has proved that even if you cook them, with the skin on they deliver the same benefits. It does seem that the old adage - an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Talking of “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” it comes from a rhyme from 1913, some 149 years ago. “Eat an apple on going to bed and you'll keep the doctor from earning his bread,” shortened to what we all know today.

The Sound of Silence

Russell, you know Russell, from Tanzania, well he sent me two versions of The Sound of Silence. One by Wolf Winters and the other by Disturbed.

Both are powerful renditions of this song originally released 50 years ago.

Wolf

Unfortunately, this version has a bunch of commentators talking over some of the best bits, obviously love the sound of their own voices. Still a very good cover.

Disturbed

Interestingly, the Disturbed version of 2015 is still one of the most watched music videos, with some 850 million people have viewed it. The first two verses are sung an octave lower than the original and jumped up an octave for the last three verses.

There is another version that has merit and is worth listening to, Pentatonic, what I enjoy is the different voices used to good effect.

Pentatonic

Keep them coming Russell, he ain't heavy, he is my brother.
