Spam and Objections

ree

In light of all the spam and phishing that is targeting our mailbox at the moment, I thought I would just remind everyone of a few clues to bad things happening on the internet.

If you get an email claiming to be from a business you know and trust, but the sender’s email address is from a public domain like @gmail.com or @outlook.com, this is a red flag.

Businesses that frequently send out emails have their own domain names, and all emails should come from that domain. If Jill is claiming to be from Verizon, but her email is Jillydill@yahoo.com, you know it’s at least spam but could be a phishing attempt. The hackers are out there, take a second look at anything that is out of the ordinary, could save you a few tears.

Lady Vivienne has reacted to the post about her reluctance to buy cheap supermarket petrol.

I object…. I do go to Tesco to fill my car but have been told it is inferior fuel

and is not good for my car. Or any car. Remember the incident when folk filled up at Tesco Westbourne and a few miles down the road their cars just stopped because of rogue fuel. I rest my case. When times are tough I occasionally relent to save a few pounds! Lady V.

Your objection is noted and whoever told you that the inferior fuel from your local supermarket is not good for your car is a wise person.

We have had another spell of cold, temperatures of -2 deg C and a nasty wind that seems to get into your bones. We did have a flutter of snow but was short-lived. Hopefully, this is the last of winter trying to hold on, against the warmer weather. I blame the Russians, lately, they seem to be spreading their wings in many unpleasant ways, and they are not to be trusted.

China does not seem to want to do anything about it and I was thinking of putting sanctions on China. Well, I have thought of not buying anything made in China but then realised that this iPad is made in China, my laptop and desktop, are both made in China. Maybe, I will have to rethink my threat of sanctions for the time being. Susan has just bought some dresses and you guessed, they are made in China. Sanctions will be an inconvenience, to say the least.

Some exciting news, Russell, who we all know is now in Tanzania, has branched out into the world of Macrame wall art. For those who have no idea what Macrame art is, this should help.

Macramé is a form of textile produced using knotting (rather than weaving or knitting) techniques. The primary knots of macramé are the square (or reef knot) and forms of "hitching": various combinations of half hitches.

Those nimble fingers of his are knotting away, creating the most artful of Macrame art. Reminds me of Tom Daley and his knitting before he does his Olympic diving. I would imagine it has its therapeutic properties. Those interested in Macrame art should get in touch with Russell, his studio is easy to find, just drive south from the airport until you see a black cow, turn right and his studio is second on the left.

Someone who will know all about Macrame art will be Lady Vivienne and Susan, those two are thick as thieves when it comes to crafty things, they made jewellery just a little while ago and are avid wreath makers, maybe something to do with us all in our advanced years, never know when a wreath might come in handy.
