The Far Right

Firstly, in case we forget, it is Robert's birthday on the 12th of August and he has bought himself a Tesla Model 3, an electric car with an iPad attached to the dashboard. Very smart and fitting for a man of his stature while doing his PHD.

Typical Friday night, Burger Night as it is known. A BBQ was called for as the weather was looking promising. Chicken, Sausages, Spare Ribs and burgers are the selection of the night. I did have anti-pasta with warm rolls to take the edge off the starving and those who missed lunch.

This was another enjoyable evening, with loads of banter, some who did enjoy a few glasses of Merlot were very chatty for a change. We tried to analyse the world's wrongs and touched on the chaos that is Africa.

Gary had some interesting theories about South Africa and he should know as he only left the country 5 years ago. The conversation moved around to the Afrikaners and what they stand for. I did read somewhere that Afrikaans is a language that is slowly dying. my feelings on any far-right cultures is well known but I did try and let the others have their views. Maybe interesting to read up on people that belong to the far right. Wikipedia does have some interesting facts but let’s face it, it is yesterday's news.

As is the trend with Burger Nights, several bottles of wine were enjoyed, a toast to the end of what has been an excellent week for most of us, I hope yours was as well. We did find a wine that cheered Claudia up no end and given a few more glasses, she would have been the heart and soul of the party. Gary, being very grownup, announced it was time to go home.

Susan bought a toy home for Jenson, not sure if he needs any more toys, he is grownup but still fetches something to give us when we get home. His way of saying he is happy to see us. The toy in question was a knotted rope and came with the following warnings.

This a health and safety gone mad. Is it a toy or not?

I did notice that the price for this toy, which is not a toy, was Tsh 10301.66 (£ 3.25). Just saying, we could have bought Russell, 5 Kilimanjaro lagers, if we had the empties. I believe this lager is named after the country’s iconic mountain, a moderate 4.5% ABV beer, is an easy-drinking. Described as light-bodied with a balanced bitterness taste to deliver a lingering, consistently refreshing and enjoyable drinking experience. In all fairness, this was one of the plus factors for my esteemed brother, in his decision to move to Tanzania.

I have just come across an island off the Wales coast - Stack Rock Fort. This forgotten island with a massive fort on has been home to the birds and is slowly being taken over by nature. For ages, Stack Rock Fort off Milford Haven has been disturbed only by gulls and creeping weeds, but it now has a new owner. Their vision is to stabilise the structure as a living monument for future generations.

"We want to preserve it in its current state, not in its formal use, so if it can be stabilised as it is, in this amazing combination of nature and architecture, that's the goal," said the company's director Nick. This has captivated me on two levels, the story and I do want to photograph this old building. I am planning on a visit soon and will update you when I am back.
